where your local food comes from

Join us on Saturday, September 8 for the 2nd Annual Farm & Food Open House: A day of farm tours, featuring tastings of fresh food and special family-oriented events. . Experience a day out on the farm filled with educational exhibits of fruit, vegetables, flowers, herbs, eggs, honey, dairy and livestock, including hayrides, cooking demos and tastings.

Your day visiting the farms won't be complete without the Farm & Food Cookout Dinner featuring a feast of locally grown food prepared by top chefs and be entertained live music.

The Foodshed Alliance of Northwest Jersey, in partnership with the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey (NOFA), Slow Food Northern New Jersey, and Whole Foods Market have brought together this day of getting to know where your food comes from. The 2nd Annual Farm & Food Open House is an initiative of the Northwest Jersey BUY FRESH BUY LOCAL Campaign. This campaign connects farmers and consumers through food and farming events. The campaign plays an important role in developing a NW Jersey food network where people can eat and enjoy primarily locally grown, healthy, fresh food and farmers can make a fair living while respecting the environment.

FARM TOURS
The 2nd Annual Farm & Food Open House begins with self-guided tours of more than a dozen farms in Warren, Morris, Sussex, and Hunterdon counties. Each farm offers unique introductions to their products and farmland.

Northern Warren County
Community Supported Garden at Genesis Farm - CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), offering an extensive variety of seasonal Biodynamically-grown vegetables, fruit, berries, herbs, freshly ground cornmeal, and honey.

Race Farm - Over 45 different fruits and vegetables, apple cider, apple cider vinegar, baked goods, cut flowers. Certified Organic: vegetables, fruits and eggs. Wide variety of Pick Your Own vegetables, apples and pumpkins.

Definitions:
Biodynamically grown - One of the worlds's oldest farming methods using a holistic approach to optimize the health and quality of the soil and food.

Community Support Agriculture (CSA) - The public becomes a member of a CSA and in return receives a weekly share of the farm's seasonal harvest.


Register - As of September 5, please register at farms.

Farm Tours 10:00 am - 4:00 pm - Registration preferred by August 20, we will send your Open House Map via US mail. Late reservations are on a first come first serve bases - - maps will be reserved for you to pick up at ANY participating farm on September 8.

Our benefit cook out dinner is a great way to wrap up a day of tours and experiences at local farms --- or if you can’t join us for the tours - just come out for dinner!

We will be serving some incredible local food dishes prepared by tops chefs. Great food, local music, and good company - and it all benefits our efforts to develop a vibrant farming economy that supports farmers, enriches the land and nourishes us with healthy, great-tasting food.

This incredible food will be prepared by Singing Chef Billy, Chef Mike Dicenso and other talented chefs.

Register now, and we will email your dinner confirmation. Dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 pm. (Please indicate on Registration Form if you need your tickets mailed, instead of emailed). Seating is limited. Registration required by August 20. Sorry, no exceptions. Join us for a spectacular dinner prepared by some of NJ's top chefs!
