The Northwest Jersey BUY FRESH, BUY LOCAL Campaign is an effort by Foodshed Alliance, local farmers, and community leaders devoted to building connections between farmers and consumers through our Online Local Food Guide, food and farming events, and community outreach.

If you are looking for fresh, healthy, locally grown food, we want to help you find it!

If you are wondering why you should make a commitment to buy local, we want to get you excited about filling your plate with delicious food grown and raised by local farmers!
If you would like to join us in our efforts, we would love to have you as a member or volunteer!

2006 BUY FRESH, BUY LOCAL EFFORTS:

Use our online LOCAL ON-LINE FOOD GUIDE to find out about farms and food in the area and beyond!

Look for the BUY FRESH BUY LOCAL logo and materials at our sponsor and member farms. (For more info on our sponsor farms click here.)

Look for us at county fairs, community events and farmers’ markets in the area.

Join us on Saturday September 9 for our annual Food and Farm Open house: A day of tours and tastings at local farms, special meals at participating restaurants, and an evening celebration and cook out!

With the guidance and leadership of Sussex County Agritourism program, we will be working with our partners to hold in August a Farm Tour for press, media and food writers to acquaint them with the farms and exceptional food of Northwest Jersey.

BUY FRESH, BUY LOCAL MISSION AND GOALS

MISSION:

To play an important role in developing a Northwest Jersey local food network where people eat and enjoy primarily locally grown, healthy, fresh food and farmers can make a fair living growing this food while respecting the environment.

GOALS:

To raise awareness about the essential connection between locally grown food and the pleasure of eating, health, the economy, our communities, and the land that sustains all of us.

To promote the farmers who proudly offer exceptionally fresh food grown with regard to consumer health and the local environment.

To empower and enable everyone who eats to take a stake in the source of their food and the future of agriculture in their communities by purchasing food grown and raised by local farmers.

To get people excited about cooking and eating fresh, local food and to help them turn that enthusiasm in to practice.

To affect the economic viability of BUY FRESH, BUY LOCAL farmers in a positive, measurable way.
